How It Works

At Swingin’Easy, we are a group of swing lovers who want to make it simple for everybody to find and share swing events around the world. No more endless searching: parties, workshops, social dances, and festivals are all gathered here, kept up to date automatically. Our dream is to help you feel at home in any city you visit or move to, connect you with local communities, and give the swing dances a welcoming, open platform for everyone.

How does it work?

  1. We gather public calendars

We look for Google Calendars that are shared openly by swing schools, associations and event organizers. If you’ve made your calendar public, we include your events—no extra forms or uploads needed.

  2. We pull in event details

Every few hours, our system gathers your event title, date and time, venue (with map link), and description.

  3. Your events appear here

Within a day, your events show up on Swingin’Easy, sorted by date, location, type of events and dance style. If you change or cancel something in your calendar, it’s updated here automatically—so dancers always have the latest info.

Why join our community calendar?

  • No extra work — Keep using your Google Calendar as usual—no additional forms or platforms to manage.
  • A world of connections — Help dancers find your events, make new friends at home or abroad, and feel welcome wherever they go.
  • Always up to date — Any updates or cancellations on the source calendar are reflected within 24 hours on our site, ensuring information is always accurate.
  • One shared space — Together we are aiming to build a global directory of swing events—no silos, just an open invitation to dance.

Good practices for a smooth and accurate display of events

  1. Keep titles short and catchy
    • Don’t cram date, venue or organization name into the title—each of these has its own field.
    • Focus on a clear, memorable event name (“Paris Lindy Picnic Social” vs. “Lindy Hop Class by XYZ Dance School on June 12 at 8 pm”).
  2. Only list walk-in-friendly classes
    • If your class requires an annual subscription or membership, it’s better not to list it here.
    • We welcome drop-in or pay-as-you-go events, open to all without long-term commitments.
  3. Use the “Repeat” feature for recurring events
    • Don’t set your first class as the start date and the last class as the end date of a single event.
    • Instead, create one event and configure recurrence (weekly, monthly, etc.) so each occurrence shows up properly.
  4. Ensure your calendar is always public and up to date
    • Double-check that “Make available to public” remains enabled.
    • Remove or update events promptly when details change or if an event is canceled.
  5. Complete every field accurately
    • Date & time: Verify the correct start and end times, including time zone.
    • Location: Use the venue’s full address and, if possible, attach a Google Maps link.
  6. Enrich the description with all relevant details
    • Who are the teachers or DJs?
    • Will there be live music? Food or drinks available?
    • Is there a beginners’ initiation or demonstration? Competitions or showcases?
    • What is the price and is pre-registration required?
    • Any accessibility considerations (wheelchair access, cloakroom, etc.)?
    • You can include links to your event website or booking platform in the description.
  7. Think about international audiences
    • Events appear on our website as they are, in their original language. In order to attract a diverse audience and facilitate access for foreigners and travelers, please consider including an English version of your event description.
  8. Avoid duplicate listings
    • If the same event appears in multiple calendars, coordinate with other organizers or consolidate it in a single public calendar to prevent confusion.

By following these best practices, you help keep Swingin’Easy a reliable, high-quality resource that dancers around the world can trust. Thank you for being part of our community!

No calendar? Use our Add Event form

If you don’t have (or don’t want to create) a public Google Calendar—which makes sense for one-off events like annual festivals—you can still share your event by submitting it individually via our Add Event form. Just fill in the fields and we’ll take care of the rest. You will then be able to find your event and modify or cancel it if necessary via your My Account space.
