Join us at the charming Jack Dickey Hall for an evening filled with high-energy swing, joyful rhythms, and community spirit. The night will feature: ✨ Live swing music from a top-notch band to keep the floor buzzing ✨ A mix and match dance contest showcasing swing dance improvisation and creativity (cost of entry goes towards prize money!) ✨ A welcoming atmosphere for dancers of all levels from newcomers to seasoned swing lovers ​ Whether you’re here to dance your heart out, cheer on the competitors, or simply soak up the music, the Harvest Moon Ball promises a night of unforgettable fun. This event is inspired by the original Harvest Moon Ball, which was a famous annual ballroom dance contest held at Madison Square Garden in New York City from 1935 to 1974, best known for promoting Lindy Hop and showcasing Black American artistry during the Swing Era. During its peak it drew in audiences of more than 20,000 people! ​ Date: 11th October 2025 Time: Doors Open 7:30pm Location: Jack Dickey Hall, 174 Green Lane West, Epsom, Auckland 1051 Cost: $35 for entry to the ball -- Introducing the Hauraki Jive Six! 🎷🎺 Bandleader Brian Kelly has put together a new and exciting dance band for the Harvest Moon Ball featuring some of Auckland's best jazz musicians. With the goal of playing great tunes for Lindy hop, Balboa and Blues the band promises great music, great tempos and great fun. Joining Brian (Trumpet and trombone) is Frank Talbot (tenor sax and clarinet) the swinging 4-piece rhythm section features Juliana Sian (piano), Doug Robertson (guitar), Georgie Nikolic (double bass) and Thomas Friggins (drums). This will be the bands debut gig! 🔥
