Event: https://facebook.com/events/s/sunday-seminars-burnout-runnin/807845605196987/ Auckland Blues Dance presents our next Sunday Seminar - "Running on empty: why passion isn't enough to prevent burnout" with Judith! Learn how burnout is defined (did you know it's serious enough to have an official WHO classification?), what the signs are, preventative actions you can take, and paths towards recovery and finding your dance joy again. Topic: Running on empty: why passion isn't enough to prevent burnout When: March 15th, 3:30pm Guest speaker: Judith Stewart Cost: Free Registration: https://events.humanitix.com/running-on-empty/tickets Virtual event: link will be sent out on registration Why are we talking about burnout? Sustainable dance communities don't just happen. They rely on businesses and organisations made up of teachers, event organisers, and volunteers who put time into creating opportunities to dance. These folk are often doing this work in addition to other full-time responsibilities and we see many fall into the 'burn and churn' cycle, which is not only disruptive for our communities, but also heartbreaking for the individuals who no longer find joy in communities and activities they've been part of creating. We hope that as we start to understand burnout more and begin using the available tools, we can become healthier communities. So whether you're just starting as a contributor or you feel like you've been churned into butter (...now spread over too much bread) please join us for this chat. About Judith: Judith is a long-time swing/blues dancer and community supporter based in Dunedin with lived experience of burnout. She's also a senior developer, expert gamer, and recent survivor of the Tongariro crossing. Judith presented this seminar on burnout to ~300 people at her workplace in January after pulling together the latest research on burnout signs and recovery. The information shared in this seminar is general and is not intended as medical advice. If you need to talk and are located in NZ you can access free support from a Helpline, including texting or calling 1737. Alternatively, please seek support directly from your GP, counsellor, or psychologist.
