Held in Memory of CHARLIE MEAD (See Video Of Charlie and Margaret from 2009)
This June 6th We are hosting our dance in memory of the great Charlie Mead. He passed away this month and June is his birthday month. And for that, we will be featuring some video clips of Charlie and Margaret dancing periodically throughout the night.
Before the dance, Margaret will teach a free solo jazz into Lindy Master Class. See details below.

We are thrilled to bring you these new swing dances at our brand new spectacular location on the Upper EAST Side. Enjoy the dazzling atmosphere with nearly 2,000 sq ft hardwood dance floor space, stage and special dance workshop room. Drinks & Snacks Available. Intermediate Level Lindy Hop workshop in a separate dance room running simultaneously with a FREE Specialty Swing Jazz Class by Margaret Batiuchok in tribute to Charlie Mead – Main Hall.

ON CHARLIE MEAD
Remembering Charlie Meade (1931-2026) “We were sad to receive the news that dancer Charlie Meade (born Harold Meade in 1931, Jamaica) has passed away…During his dance career, Charlie worked with Buddy Bradley’s dance group in London in the 1950’s, also touring around Europe. He performed several roles in the 1963 film “Cleopatra,” starring Elizabeth Taylor, which was filmed in Rome, including dancer and guard. Since the 1980’s, Charlie regularly performed Lindy hop and jazz dance routines with his long-time dance partner Margaret Batiuchok, and at times with others, including Dawn Hampton, Karen Goldstein, and Teddy Kern. At the annual Lincoln Center Midsummer Night Swing festival in New York City, Margaret and Charlie often performed and led the shim sham…….“
